Adventures of Flat Stanley!

Flat Stanley visited Ft Bragg, located in North Carolina. Ft Bragg is a United States Army Base and host the Army and Army reserve Force Commands as well home of the special forces and Joint Special Operations Command. Unfortunately, due to the importance of Ft Bragg, we were limited as to what photos Flat Stanley could take.

The next photo is with Flat Stanley on a rubber tire back hoe, unfortunately we do not have much big equipment left on the job site, flat stanley did get to drive the rubber tire backhoe but he had a lot of trouble turning the steering wheel and we decided it was a bad idea.
The third and 4th photos are of Flat Stanley visiting the airpark located at Pope Army Air Field. The park has several planes for display, the plane shown in the 3rd photo is a C-130 transport. The C-130 transport is the only military aircraft to remain in continuous production for 50 years with its original customer.

After visiting Uncle Jon, Flat Stanley went to go visit Chelsea Boehm in St Louis,
MO. This means Flat Stanley got to sit on a real plane and was not forced to be in an envelope!!!!!!

Chelsea took Flat Stanley to see several landmarks in St Louis. The first of which was the Gateway Arch, the Gateway Arch, which is 630 ft tall, was completed in October 1965 and even has a tram system which you can ride to the top of the tower and visit an observation deck. Flat Stanley did not want to go because it was windy and the arch will sway in the wind!!!! Even at today’s standards, construction of the arch is an engineering and construction marvel!!!!

Chelsea also took Flat Stanley to see the Eads bridge which is located next to the Arch. When completed in 1874, the Eads Bridge was the longest arch bridge in the world, with an overall length of 6,442 feet (1,964 m). The ribbed steel arch spans were considered daring, as was
the use of steel as a primary structural material: it was the first such use of true steel in a major bridge project.

While headed home from the Gateway Arch and Eads Bridge, Flat Stanley wanted to stop at the Busch Stadium. Busch Stadium is the home of the 2011 World Series Champions, the St Louis Cardinals. Busch stadium was built in 2006 and cost over 365 million dollars to build.

Flat Stanley’s last stop was the St. Louis Zoo. The St Louis Zoo is one of the top zoo’s in the country with every animal you could think of. Flat Stanley really wanted to see the Gorilla’s, Bears and the Penguins! When he got there the bears were taking a nap inside so he didn’t get to see them but the Gorilla’s and the Penguin’s were out playing! I think he liked the Gorilla’s the best because they would jump up to the rope swing and then swing from tree to tree.

After Flat Stanley’s TWO trips he was so tired and ready to go home to Elizabeth so we got him packed up and sent him back to Florida. Hope he comes back to visit soon- but now he will have to bring Elizabeth and her entire family to Uncle Jon in Atlanta Georgia where they can see the Atlanta Braves Play Baseball and experience the world largest aquarium!
